Computing

We offer a wide range of Computing courses, ranging from courses for absolute beginners to accredited qualifications.

Beginners courses

We have three different levels of Beginners computer courses: Absolute Beginners, Beginners Plus, and Beginners Extra. These courses are typically two-hour sessions spread out over five weeks. They also attract a concession of 70% off (for those in receipt of a means-tested benefit) or 10% off (for those over the age of sixty-five). For more information what concessions you may be entitled to, please visit our Student Support pages or contact us on 0345 6 01 01 61.

Absolute Beginners

Our Absolute Beginners course is designed for those that have not had any previous experience with computers that would like to learn the basics at a leisurely pace. We will introduce you to the mouse and the keyboard, how to work your way round the desktop and, by the end of the course, hope to understand how to find simple information on the internet.

It will also include a look at safety and security on your computer, and good File Management housekeeping.

Beginners Extra

Our final step in the three-course beginners programme is 'Beginners Extra'. At this level, we will be looking at continued use of the internet, adding different attachments to an email, and begin looking at spreadsheets, through Microsoft Excel.
