You will be able to progress with your own ideas to produce sketchbook and portfolio works to a high standard by working on group projects set by the tutor, whilst gaining a wider art vocabulary.
New and beginner students will work in graphite and charcoal to develop your observational drawing skills. Returning and advanced students will progress further with your preferred medium and develop your own skills, goals and initiatives. With outcomes focusing on observational drawing to create preparation sketches or working notes for larger completed works. Some students may also work on paintings that are mounted in a professional manner and will be supported to exhibit locally. This course will include some basic Art History and student research. Students will be encouraged to visit online Museums and Galleries to broaden your chosen interests
This is a practical Learning for Personal Interest course with lots of opportunities for getting hands-on experience using a wide variety of techniques. With regular one to one tutorials, you will develop your confidence and creativity, enabling you to produce a unique carving of your own design. You will learn the skills & techniques of woodcarving, both in relief and ‘in the round’. The course will cover the importance of preliminary design and composition; correct use and maintenance of tools and how to apply a variety of carving techniques. You will also learn how to recognise and appreciate of a range of hardwoods and apply surface finishing methods such as stains, oils, polishes.

Deaf awareness, fingerspelling, basic greetings and everyday conversational signs.
You will learn to fingerspell names and places. Identify the sign name of your local town (if it has one), give and receive information about how you are feeling, where you live and use the local number system.
Half way through the session each week you will be joined by the intermediate students. You will then have an opportunity to practise together and discuss the use of your BSL skills.
The course will enable you to understand more complex discussions concerning familiar topics. You will work towards being able to participate in conversations with a degree of fluency and spontaneity and express viewpoints on a range of issues. The emphasis will be on developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as understanding of the rules of the language. The structure of the language is introduced through everyday topics and practical situations, and will be explained and reinforced using resources created by the tutor. You will also gain an insight into the culture, history and customs of the country. Topics could include: travel, healthy living, leisure pursuits - sports, cinema and music- and topics that are related to your personal interests.

Speaking, listening, reading and writing will be developed through a range of topics that could include: current affairs and newspaper articles, the media, social and political issues and literature –poetry, prose and drama. Through these modules, you will also gain an insight into the culture and customs of the country.
FIND OUT MOREThis is a free, online, 12-hour course for parents, guardians and carers of children and teenagers in West Sussex. The aim of this course is to enable parents to positively discuss the changes experienced by adolescents and their families and how to best support their teens grow into happy and confident adults. Parenting courses are not interventions and the tutor will not tell parents “how it’s done,” rather they are discussion-based with time to share experiences, ideas, concerns and possible solutions. Content will include all/some of the following: Tutors will facilitate and encourage discussion in a secure environment, the expectations and concerns of the learners will be used to inform the planning and content of the course to meet learners' needs. • A look at adolescent development and the impact on the family. • A discussion on appropriate expectations. • Ideas for problem solving and negotiation techniques. • Discussion on positive communication skills and how to practise them

BEGINNERS ARE WELCOME to this Learning for Personal Interest course.
You will learn and develop a wide range of techniques in watercolour painting that will help to build your confidence in this medium. These will include flat, overlaid, graded and blended washes. You will also be shown simple methods of colour mixing and some exciting texture techniques. Alongside this you will be encouraged to improve your drawing skills. As a guide, by the end of the course you will have produced samples of watercolour techniques, colour mixing charts and completed several finished pieces of work Your tutor will help you set personal goals for you to aim for and provide regular feedback on how you are doing. All lessons will have learning aims which the tutor will share with you and they will track how you are progressing throughout the course and keep you informed. This is a practical course with lots of opportunities for getting hands-on experience using a wide variety of techniques.
