What is the course about?
!In the instance of a Government imposed lockdown if this course cannot be moved to online it will be paused until it is able to begin again. No refunds will be made due to a Government imposed lockdown.
You will begin each session by being introduced to basic BSL;
Deaf awareness, fingerspelling, basic greetings and everyday conversational signs.
You will learn to fingerspell names and places. Identify the sign name of your local town (if it has one), give and receive information about how you are feeling, where you live and use the local number system.
Half way through the session each week you will be joined by the intermediate students. You will then have an opportunity to practise together and discuss the use of your BSL skills.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This course is suitable for those with little or no knowledge of British Sign Language.
What do I need to bring with me?
You may wish to have a pen and note book, plus any previous vocabulary handouts to hand throughout the course/session.
Are there any additional costs?
There are no additional costs to attend this course. You may wish to purchase a dictionary or download a BSL dictionary app.
