What is the course about?

We will process your enrolment and contact you if we need to see evidence of your benefits or pay. This is for funding purposes. Following this, your course will be set up and your Assessor will contact you to advise on how to access your course. This qualification aims to introduce learners to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately. This qualification does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor. Who is it suitable for? This qualification is useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling skills for use in either work or a personal capacity. These may be learners who wish to progress towards further qualifications or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (eg health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work). This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above. To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units: • Unit 01 Using counselling skills • Unit 02 Introduction to counselling skills theories • Unit 03 Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills • Unit 04 Counselling skills and personal development There is a short practical activity to complete to demonstrate use of counselling skills

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. You will need a good level of English to be able to read the course material and respond to the assessed questions. We will discuss this with you at the Induction meeting.

What do I need to bring with me?

The course is completed on your computer or device, in your own time.

Are there any additional costs?

The course is fully funded if you are 19+ and have lived in the UK/EU for 3 years.
