What is the course about?
Each week the tutor will guide you through different sketchbook exercises to develop and explore creative image making.
Thumbnail sketching and using a viewfinder
Making a concertina sketchbook
Positives and negatives
Developing and abstracting ideas.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This course is suitable for those with no previous experience and those with some previous drawing or painting experience.
What do I need to bring with me?
A selection of drawing and painting mediums. The idea is to experiment and create with the tools you have.
These could include: Graphite, coloured pencils, pens, pastels, oil pastels, ink, watercolour, gouache, acrylics, collage etc.
A5 sketchbook suitable for your mediums. (good quality paper, 170gsm for drawing and light painting to 280gsm for heavier painting)
1 large A2 sheet of cartidge paper.
Water pots, palettes, scissors and glue stick.
You may also like to bring a selection of related images as inspiration. The tutor will also have a set of images you can use.
