What is the course about?
This is an online conversation course for learners to practise speaking about care work. It will help to
develop communication skills with service users and colleagues. It will help learners describe the needs of elderly residents in a care home. This class is a live video session which uses a link from Microsoft teams.
It will cover:-
Communication skills
- Introductions and greetings
- Making, accepting and refusing suggestions
- Polite requests and interruptions
Care home routines
- Describing the daily routine of a carer and a service user
Describing people and their needs
- Caring for the elderly
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
It is aimed at ESOL students with E2/3 level English and who work or wish to work within this line of work and are working towards Social Care qualifications. You will not be taking a qualification with us.
The course is for 1.5 hours a week over 3 weeks and will also include an element of independent study and homework. It is very important that learners attend class and complete homework on time in order to fully benefit from the course.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need a device that has a microphone and webcam (e.g. a laptop, tablet or smart phone).
You will need a reliable internet connection.
