What is the course about?

This is a Learning for Personal Interest course which will enable you to understand more complex lines of argument concerning familiar topics. You will be able to participate in discussions with a degree of fluency and spontaneity and express viewpoints on a range of topical issues. The emphasis will be on developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as your understanding of the rules of the language.  The structure of the language is introduced through a range of topics and social situations, and is explained and reinforced using resources and activities created by the tutor. You will also gain an insight into the culture, history and customs of the country.  Topics could include: travel, the media, healthy living, leisure pursuits - sports, cinema and music- the world of work, and topics that are related to your personal interests.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

This is the follow-on of a pre-established class that welcomes new learners. You will have studied the language for some years and may have completed an Aspire Intermediate course (CEFR:A2), studied a course at Sixth Form or studied at the previous Aspire Level 3. If you are unsure of your level, please contact us and we will put you in touch with the tutor. Diagnostic self-assessment sheets are available from our centres and on our website.
