What is the course about?
The course will enable you to understand more complex lines of argument concerning familiar topics. You will be able to participate in discussions with a degree of fluency and spontaneity and express viewpoints on a range of topical issues. The emphasis will be on developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as your understanding of the rules of the language. The structure of the language is introduced through a range of topics and social situations, and is explained and reinforced using resources and activities created by the tutor. You will also gain an insight into the culture, history and customs of the country. Topics could include: travel, the media, healthy living, leisure pursuits - sports, cinema and music- the world of work, and topics that are related to your personal interests
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This is the follow-on of a pre-established class that welcomes new learners. You will have studied the language for some years and may have completed a course at A2 level or studied at the previous Aspire Level 3. If you are unsure of your level, please contact us and we will put you in touch with the tutor. Diagnostic self-assessment sheets are available from our centres and on our website
What do I need to bring with me?
Pen and paper. The first few weeks of the course will use resources produced by the tutor supplemented by material from the final section of Texto 2 A2 (student's book) with DVD-ROM, ISBN 9782014015867 - if you do not already have this book you do not need to purchase it.
Are there any additional costs?
The main textbook for the course will be Texto 3 B1 (student’s book) with DVD-ROM, ISBN 978-2-01-401594-2 – you will not need this for the first few weeks. The reading book is Un Sac de Billes by Joseph Joffo - key vocabulary provided by the tutor.
What can I do next?
This course will take place online during the Autumn and Spring terms. The situation will be reviewed for the Summer term.
