What is the course about?

This course aims to help parents/carers prepare their family for starting school. Tt will give you an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and life in a reception classroom. It will also help you to understand the importance of routines, independence and boundaries to help the transition to school. You will also have some simple activities that you can do at home to support your child's development in English and Mathematics.

This is an online course delivered using Teams, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and the other students. You will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other students as you would in a classrooom.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

The course is aimed at parents or any adult who plays a significant role in caring for the child. No previous knowledge is required.

What do I need to bring with me?

Bring along a pen and paper so that you can make some of your own notes during the session if you wish. The tutor will provide any other resources needed. You can acccess the session for free on your Smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer.

Are there any additional costs?

No, Aspire Family Learning courses are free to residents of West Sussex.
