What is the course about?

Always wanted to learn to draw but don’t know how to get started?

This course will introduce you to some basic drawing techniques to help build up your skills. You will also have the opportunity to express yourself through drawing.

Through a series of demonstrations you will learn how to use the different pencils available and how to create tones and textures.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

This is a course for beginners.

What do I need to bring with me?

Essential: Several sheets, or a pad of Cartridge Paper – I recommend Daler Rowney or Frisk, minimum size A4 (you can choose to work bigger, eg on A3). 2H, HB and 2B pencils – I recommend Staedtler Mars Lumograph, an eraser and sharpener.

Optional: any other drawing materials you already have, for example: charcoal, coloured pencils, pastels, pens. You do not need to buy any of these.

If you have any queries regarding materials, please telephone Aspire Sussex who will arrange for the tutor to contact you.

Are there any additional costs?

No additional costs

What can I do next?

There are a number of other interesting art classes available throughout the year, exploring different media, techniques and styles.
