24+ Learning Loans

24+ Learning Loans

Are you looking to study a Level 3 qualification or above, and are aged 24 or over?

If the answer is yes, you may be entitled to a loan for your learning. This means that you will no longer have to pay for your course up front and will not need to pay anything until you are earning £21,000 and over per year. These loans will give you financial support for tuition fees charged for these courses and are administered through the Student Loan Company.

Students applying for loans are not means tested or subject to any credit checks, making them accessible to everyone.

To qualify students must:

  • Be aged 24 or over on the first day or the course (there is no upper age limit);
  • Be living in the UK on the first day of the course (and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for the three years immediately before this (exceptions apply));
  • Be studying with an provider or college approved for public funding, such as Aspire Sussex;
  • Be enrolling on an eligible course at Level 3 or above (including A-levels, Access to HE Diplomas, other Diplomas and Certificates, Advanced Apprenticeships or Higher Apprenticeships);
  • Only have one loan at a time

The minimum loan you can take out is £300, and the maximum available is the cost of the course. Additionally, you can choose to mix and match, taking out a loan as well as paying up front for some of the course.

Students who have taken out a loan to pay for their course and are on a means tested benefit or low income (under £20,000) may also be considered for further financial support through the 24+ Advance Loan Bursary. These fund are limited and will be allocated on an individual need basis. Please ask for further information on how to apply for a loan Bursary when you enquire about enrolment.
