What is the course about?
This is a brand new exciting Essential Digital Skills, level 1, Learning for Work course. You will have the opportunity to learn skills such as:
Learning how to create charts, tables and graphics
Learning how to capture, edit and enhance images
Learn how to use formulas in spreadsheets for calculations
Understand how to compare prices online and shop safely
Learning how to keep the operating systems and software up to date
Learning how to tags files to allow for efficient information retrieval
Learning how to store and back up files on the cloud
Learning how to synchronise devices to enable you to access files on other devices
Learning about the importance of file sizes, data transfer speeds and compressing files
Typical activities for this course:
Use YouTube to edit video you have captured to enhance it
Create Financial Models in excel spreadsheets with formulas
Create graphs (charts) in excel
Back-up data to the cloud
Manage and Zip Files (compress them)
Schedule operating system updates
Check and manage your digital footprint
Use internet comparison sites and multiple tabs to compare prices online
Use online tutorials to improve software knowledge
Create user instructions with graphics you have captured and enhanced with text boxes for users
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
Ideally you should have been on and passed the New Essential Digital Skills Entry Level 3 qualification or you should have similar experience. Please see the course information sheet for the Entry level 3 course if you are unsure. As this is a Level 1 qualification you will need a good understanding of English, at least a level 1 in English or higher. You will be asked to sit an initial assessment to determine whether this course is the best level for you. It is essential you have access to a laptop or desktop, with a reliable internet connection to complete homework and to prepare for your exams.
