What is the course about?
You will design and make a range of pottery and ceramic artefacts. During the course you will learn how to prepare different types of clay, as well as techniques such as pinching, coiling and slabbing or throwing and turning on the potter’s wheel. You will learn about decorating techniques, such as graffito, slip, glaze, oxides and more. The tutor will support you to work, whilst using best practise health and safety methods.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This course is designed for those looking to develop their creativity in a supportive group environment. The group is a mix of beginners and experienced potters.
What do I need to bring with me?
Pottery, smock or old clothing; Sketchbook or notepad for ideas (including photographs and notes); Pen/pencil; Recommended books are to be purchased locally, examples of which will be on display.
If you don't already have one you, will be required to purchase a tool kit.

This course allows for continuation to the next Mixed Ability pottery course, though you can try your hand at other three dimensional craft courses such as Woodcarving.
