What is the course about?

This is a free, short course, which aims to help you explore how you can support your child in being ‘school ready’, for September 2022 school starters.

We will discuss ideas as a group; so, you will have opportunities to talk to other parents/carers, and your tutor, on ways to help your pre-schooler.

Our sessions are not interventions, and the tutor will not tell parents ‘How it’s done’, rather they are discussion-based with time to share experiences, ideas, concerns, and practical solutions.

Content will include all/some of the following:

Routines

Screentime & online safety

Encouraging independence

Simple and fun activities to support your child’s reading, writing and maths skills.

You may take your child/children along with you if you wish.
There will be activities available for the children while the adults are learning, and another play session available for the children and adults, if they would like it, after the one-hour session with the tutor has finished.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

No previous knowledge required; just an interest in preparing your child for school

What do I need to bring with me?

Bring a pen/pencil and notepad, just in case you would like to take notes (optional)

Are there any additional costs?

No, Aspire Family Learning courses are free to residents of West Sussex.
