What is the course about?
This is a Learning for Personal Interest course.
The aim of the course is to develop basic communication skills in practical situations for beginners who intend to use the language on holiday or for work. The emphasis will be on developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The structure of the language is introduced through everyday topics and practical situations; you will also gain an insight into the culture and customs of the country. Topics could include: introducing yourself and other people, family information shopping, ordering food and drink, booking a hotel room, asking for and giving directions.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This course is for complete beginners as well as beginners with a very basic knowledge of the language, or for those who may have completed a 5 week taster course with us. If you are unsure of your level, please contact us and ask to speak to the tutor for further assistance. Diagnostic self-assessment sheets are available from the centres and on our website.
What do I need to bring with me?
Pen and paper. At the first session your tutor will discuss the purchase of a suitable dictionary and textbook with you.
