What is the course about?
This is a Learning for Health and Wellbeing course. This course will cover; gentle moves and stretching by standing and sitting in a chair, various apparatus will be used each week e.g. weights, Therabands. You will perform exercises to improve co-ordination and balance. You will begin each session with a warm up, preparing the body for the exercises to follow and the session will finish with a cool down stretch and a relaxation period.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This pre-established course, that welcomes new learners, is designed for those looking to improve and maintain a physical, active lifestyle. You are welcome if you are over 60, whether you are currently active or inactive, as everyone exercises at their own pace. If necessary, alternative or modified exercises can be given to ensure you work safely at your own level.
What do I need to bring with me?
For this course, you will need; clothing appropriate for exercise, a bottle of water, a non-slip mat, a block or a cushion, a blanket for relaxation. We recommend that you should always seek the advice of a GP before taking up physical activity or vigorous exercise. Should you feel it necessary to share relevant details of your medical history with your tutor, please ask them for a health check form and complete it as soon as possible. This form will not be copied, or the information on it, be transferred to any other document and will be shredded at the end of the course.
