What is the course about?

This course will help you to learn, practice and develop some new cake decorating skills. We will practise buttercream techniques for cakes as well as covering a square cake with sugar paste to tackle those tricky corners! We will paint onto icing with food colours, look at Spring theme toppers and you will also develop your royal icing skills practising using stencils & piping a delicate embroidery design.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

This course will be suitable for those with some experience in cake decorating or for those with an interest in learning new techniques. No qualifications are necessary.

What do I need to bring with me?

What do I need to bring with me on the first lesson?
6” hard cake board covered with white sugarpaste (at least 2 days before class)
Selection of paintbrushes
Food paste colours (available to borrow)
Pencil & small piece of greaseproof paper
Paint palette or small container to mix colours for painting
Small amount of Alcohol (vodka) or Lemon extract or rejuvenator spirit
Small Palette knife
Box to take work home in
A board to work on or covering for the table
Apron Cloth or wipes to clean surface
Tea towel

NOTE: Items available from sugarcraft stores/supermarket/Lakeland or the internet
