What is the course about?

This is a Learning for Personal Interest course that will enable you to develop the high-level language skills needed to take part in any in-depth conversation or discussion with total confidence. It will refine your knowledge and appreciation of language style.

Speaking, listening, reading and writing skills will be developed through the study of a range of topics presented in a variety of written and audio-visual formats (newspaper or magazine articles, documentary programmes, literature and film). Themes covered could include: travel, lifestyle issues, sport and leisure pursuits, music, art and culture, the world of work, current affairs and global issues, as well as other topics related to your personal interests. Through these modules, you will also gain an insight into the culture and customs of some of the countries where the language is spoken.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

This is the follow-on of a pre-established class that welcomes new learners. You may have studied at degree level or lived in a country where the language is spoken (CEFR:B2). If you are unsure of your level, please contact us and ask to speak to the tutor for further assistance. Diagnostic self-assessment sheets are available on our website and from our centres.

What do I need to bring with me?

Pen and paper.

Are there any additional costs?

There are no additional costs for this course. At the first session your tutor will discuss with you and recommend the purchase of a suitable dictionary and textbook.
