What is the course about?

In the instance of a Government imposed lockdown if this course cannot be moved to online it will be paused until it is able to begin again. No refunds will be made due to a Government imposed lockdown.

The aim of this course is to build a creative awareness and enjoyment of photography using camera functions and experimentation. We will look at different genres of photography for inspiration and learn from the masters. The course will undertake small projects, encouraging students to look at the world differently with their cameras and to be as creative as possible with the medium.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

The course is suitable for the Digital SLR (or similar Bridge) camera owner with limited technical knowledge, who would like to increase their awareness of camera functions, build on confidence levels photographing in a variety of situations, and find new areas of interest.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring a DSLR camera and instruction manual along with a pen and notepad and a TRIPOD is strongly recommended. If you do not own one yet, suggestions will be made during the first part of the course. Field trips - Some work out of doors may be included (weather permitting) to enrich your photographic learning experience. Please inform the office if this is likely to be a problem for you. Suitable footwear/ clothing is advised for all classes.

Are there any additional costs?

The purchase of a suitable workbook will be required. Participants will also be expected to produce their own photographs for class assessment. There may be some costs attached to the Field Trips, these will be discussed and agreed in advance.
