What is the course about?
The course is aimed at introducing learners to a range of basic cooking skills suitable for preparing nutritious and tasty home cooked meals. We will be cooking classic dishes such as Minestrone soup, Cottage pie, Pasta bake, Rice & Chilli stew and Pizza.
It is suitable for anyone who is keen to learn how to cook meals at home.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
No previous experience is required.
What do I need to bring with me?
For the course you will need basic kitchen utensils, including; Chopping board, sharp knife, saucepan with lid, spatula or wooden spoon, a set of measuring cups, a measuring jug, a potato masher, a vegetable peeler, a grater.
For the first week you will require the following ingredients;
- 2 cloves of garlic, ¼ cabbage, 2 onions, 2 sticks of celery, 2 large carrots 2 large potatoes, 2 tomatoes, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 tbsps. Oil, 1 stock cube of choice, 2 tsp mixed herbs, ½ cup of pasta or broken spaghetti, Salt and pepper to taste, Water
The course will be delivered online so you will need to have access to a suitable IT device and environment to watch the classes whilst being able to cook along
Are there any additional costs?
Ingredients will cost around £5 a week when cooking.
