What is the course about?

The aim of the course is to promote the enjoyment of photography and enhance picture outcomes, improve creativity and enrich enjoyment. You will learn basic camera functions and settings to alter picture outcomes, about composition and presentation and working with digital files.

As a guide, by the end of the course you should be able to:

-Work independently with camera settings to alter picture outcomes and select appropriate shooting modes
-Create images giving consideration to compositional elements and the use of software for basic picture editing
- Enjoy photography in a variety of situations and explore different genres of photography

You will learn about the functions of the mode dial such as Tv Av and P functions, how to focus and expose accurately as well as improving composition.
Some work out of doors may be included and on location (weather permitting) to enrich your photographic learning experience. Please inform the office if this is likely to be a problem for you.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

The course is aimed at beginners wishing to learn the functions of their camera and get off auto mode.

What do I need to bring with me?

Camera. Memory Card, FULLY CHARGED camera battery.
Notepad and pen.

Are there any additional costs?

Ownership of a tripod is highly recommended but not essential. If you do not already own a tripod, advice will be given during the course should you wish to purchase one. There may printing costs. The purchase of a memory stick may be required. Travel costs may be involved with field trips.
