This is a photography course focusing on creativity and fun with clear technical guidance. Ideal for DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras and bridge camera users. Compact camera users are also welcome but please be aware there will be some limits to what you can achieve.
The course focuses on developing skills for improving the control of light, learning how the camera “sees” to make more creative images and learning how to best compose your images.
Returning Students will learn:
How to take control of exposure in manual mode by using different camera metering modes.
How focal lengths affect image outcomes.
How to master the exposure triangle.
About aperture and depth of field.
New Students will learn:
How to control exposure via exposure compensation.
How to control depth of field in aperture mode.
How to control the shutter speed in Tv/S mode.
All Students will:
Develop their compositional skills.
Explore new genres of photography, such as landscape, still life and portraits.
Develop a critical eye and improve their own photography by looking at work by the greats in the field of photography.
There will be two creative assignments set during the course to give you the opportunity to apply your camera skills.
By the end of the course students will have made two online folios of images showing the application of techniques and concepts learned about on the course.
How you will learn:
Each lesson will focus on a core technique or theme and each week a challenge will be set to encourage you to explore these in greater depth. You will receive full support to ensure you are confident in undertaking any tasks assigned.
