What is the course about?

In this workshop we will be studying ’ Ba Duan Jin’ -The Eight Brocades of Silk.
This is one of the oldest and most widely practiced systems of exercise in the world. This set of 8 exercises usually takes around six minutes to perform, which means that it can be practised easily every day as part of a morning health routine. These exercises have been carefully designed to stretch and tone all of your internal organs and meridians, increase your energy and to dispel illness and stagnant energy from your body.

We will also be looking at tips for Staying Healthy in spring including Diet, Exercise and lifestyle tips from Chinese medicine. We will discuss working with the ‘Liver’ Principle in our Tai Chi practise and using the ‘swimming fish’ and ‘bamboo’ movements to develop our technique.
We will look at the Taoist breathing technique known as the ‘Sacred breath’ which can be used to stay calm during the spring excitement and the ‘Healing sound’ for the Liver (‘Zu/Shu/Hsu’) which is said to help fight off depression.
